SHORT BUT SWEET: After bringing their first baby home from the hospital, the wife suggested to her husband that he try his hand at changing nappies. “I’m busy,” he said. “I’ll do the next one.” The next time the baby was wet, she asked if he was ready to learn how to change nappies. He gave her a puzzled look, then said finally, “I didn’t mean the next diaper; I meant the next baby!”
SOME THOUGHTS FOR THE WEEK: “To share your weakness is to make yourself vulnerable; to make yourself vulnerable is to show your strength.” Criss Jami
“To be alive, to be able to see, to walk, to have houses, music, paintings – it’s all a miracle. I have adopted the technique of living life miracle to miracle.”Arthur Rubinstein
“Half of the troubles of this life can be traced to saying yes too quickly and not saying no soon enough.”Josh Billings
“The brick walls are there for a reason. The brick walls are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something. Randy Pausch
“I’ve learned that you shouldn’t go through life with a catcher’s mitt on both hands; you need to be able to throw something back.” Maya Angelou
“I used to want to change the world. Now I just want to leave the room with a little dignity.” Lotus Weinstock
“People inspire you, or they drain you – pick them wisely.” Hans F Hansen
ONE SENTENCE SERMON: If you’re depressed, you’re living in the past; if anxious, in the future; if at peace, in the present; and if you’re stressed, then well – you’re just living!
WEBSITE OF THE WEEK: www.christianfathers.com This website written from a Christian perspective contains many parenting resources that will help you in your home as you strive to become a blessed father and husband.
What is a Dad?
A Dad is someone who
wants to catch you before you fall
but instead picks you up,
brushes you off,
and lets you try again.
A Dad is someone who
wants to keep you from making mistakes but instead lets you find your own way,
even though his heart breaks in silence
when you get hurt.
A Dad is someone who
holds you when you cry,
scolds you when you break the rules,
shines with pride when you succeed, and has faith in you even when you fail…
